Terminating and Recurring Decimals sorts the decimals you get from fractions into two kinds, in NSW Year 7 maths (NESA outcome MA4‑FRC‑C‑01). A terminating decimal stops, like \(\frac{5}{16} = 0.3125\), while a recurring decimal repeats forever, like \(\frac{1}{3} = 0.333\ldots\)
You will divide to change fractions into decimals, write repeating blocks in dot notation, round recurring decimals to a set number of places, and see why every terminating or recurring decimal is a rational number. Sharing two pizzas between three friends shows a recurring answer turning up in real life. It is part of Year 7 Decimals.
