Multiplying with Decimals gives the full written method for products such as \(0.7 \times 0.12\) in NSW Year 7 maths (NESA outcome MA4‑FRC‑C‑01). Multiply as if there were no decimal points, then count the decimal places in the question to put the point back in the answer.
You will model products on a 10 by 10 grid, use long multiplication for larger decimals, write zeros in front when needed and check against an estimate. You will also see why multiplying by a number less than 1 makes the answer smaller. Buying apples by the kilogram, fuel use and the area of a floor are real examples. It is part of Year 7 Decimals.
