Ordering Fractions on a Number Line shows where fractions, mixed numerals and negative fractions compare with one another, in NSW Year 7 maths (NESA outcome MA4‑FRC‑C‑01). To read a point on a number line, count the equal parts between two whole numbers; negative fractions lie to the left of zero.
You will name fractions on number lines with different scales, write improper fractions for points, order fractions using a common denominator, mix in decimals and percentages, find the fraction halfway between two others, and see why \(\frac{1}{8}\) is smaller than \(\frac{1}{6}\). Comparing how far friends ran is one everyday use. It is part of Year 7 Fractions.
