A sample space is the full list of possible outcomes when you toss a coin, roll a die or spin a spinner. This NSW Year 7 maths subtopic (NESA outcome MA4‑PRO‑C‑01) introduces outcomes, events and how to write them inside curly brackets.
You will list sample spaces such as \(\{H, T\}\) or \(\{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6\}\), list the favourable outcomes for an event like rolling a number greater than 4, and decide when outcomes are equally likely. You will also list the results for two coins and see that a colour repeated on a spinner is listed only once. This subtopic is part of Year 7 Probability.
