Multiplying and Dividing Decimals Theory

To multiply two numbers with decimal places, first multiply the numbers without considering the decimal places. Next count the numbers behind the decimal place. The answer requires the same total number of decimal places. \begin{multicols}{2} \textbf{Example 1}\\ Evaluate, with out calculator \(5.2 \times 0.6\)\\  \textbf{Example 1 solution}\\ \(52 \times 6=312\)\\ There are a total of two numbers behind the decimal place $$ \therefore 5.2 \times 0.6=3.12 $$  To divide two numbers with decimal places, first move the decimal place in the division and then move the same number of places in the dividend. Then divide as normal. \vfill \columnbreak \textbf{Example 2}\\ \(41.3 \div 0.2=\)\\  \textbf{Example 2 solution}\\ \(41.3 \div 0.2=413.0 \div 2\) $$ \longdivision{413}{2} $$ \(\therefore 41.3 \div 0.2=206.5\) \end{multicols}
