Interpreting graphs means reading a picture of data: check the title, the labels and the scale, then pull out the values you need. This NSW Year 7 maths subtopic covers the main graph types students meet (NESA outcome MA4‑DAT‑C‑01).
You will read column, picture, line, sector and divided bar graphs, work out what each grid line is worth, use sector angles and percentages to find amounts, tell numerical data from categorical data, pick a suitable graph, and describe a trend to make a prediction. Class surveys and news reports are full of graphs like these. This subtopic is part of Year 7 Analysing Data.
