Integration using multiple techniques completes the Further integration topic in NSW Year 12 Mathematics Extension 2 (NESA outcome ME2-12-04). This subtopic solves problems that require combining integration techniques — such as substitution, partial fractions, integration by parts and trigonometric identities — within a single problem.
Students and teachers will cover how to recognise which methods to apply and in what order, in abstract integrals and in applied problems such as areas, volumes and finding particular solutions — the synthesis of skills tested at the top of the HSC Extension 2 course.
