Vector proofs in geometry is part of the Vectors topic in NSW Year 12 Mathematics Extension 2 (NESA outcome ME2-12-02). This subtopic writes key lines of a triangle — altitudes, medians, angle bisectors and perpendicular bisectors — in vector form, and uses the dot product for lengths and right angles.
Students and teachers will cover proofs about parallelograms, rhombuses, rectangles and triangles in the plane and in space — such as diagonals bisecting each other — turning classical geometry into short vector arguments in the HSC Extension 2 course.
