Food and Nutrition

Kilojoules measure how much energy we get from food. When you consume too much food or the wrong types of food, you get too much energy. The excess energy is stored as fat. We used to measure food energy in calories (Cal) but kilojoules (kJ) is now used internationally.

1 calorie (Cal) = 4.184 kilojoules (kJ)
