Year 8 Maths Volume

Volume and Capacity

20 practice questions 1 video lesson Theory + worked examples

Every capacity question is a volume question with one more step: find the space in cubic units, then convert it to millilitres, litres, kilolitres or megalitres. In NSW Year 8 maths (NESA outcome MA4‑VOL‑C‑01) this is applied to prisms and cylinders such as tanks, troughs, cans and pools.

You will use the depth of the water when a tank is not full, find how deep water or topsoil is from its volume, and work out how long a hose or pump takes to fill a tank. You will also turn rainfall on a roof or a dam's catchment into litres and megalitres, fold an open box from a metal sheet, and find how many days a full tank lasts a family. It is part of Year 8 Volume.
