![The median is the middle score.\\[3pt] If there are an odd number of ordered scores The median is the average of the two middle scores.\\[3pt] The range \(=\) highest score \(-\) lowest score.\\ \begin{multicols}{2} \textbf{Example 1}\\ \textbf{i)} From the set of data find the median $$2,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,6$$ \textbf{ii)} From the set of data find the median. $$2,3,3,4,4,5,6,7,7,8$$ \textbf{Example 1 solution}\\ \textbf{i)} There are \(9\) scores, so the 5th score is the \\ middle score.\\ \(\therefore \text { Median }=4\)\\[3pt] \textbf{ii)} There are \(10\) scores, so the 5th and 6th scores are the \\ middle scores.\\ \(\begin{aligned} \therefore \text { Median } & =\frac{4+5}{2} \\ & =4.5 \end{aligned}\) \columnbreak \textbf{Example 2}\\ From the set of data find the range $$2,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,6$$ \textbf{Example 2 solution}\\ The highest score is \(6\)\\ The lowest score is \(2\)\\ \(\begin{aligned} \therefore \text { Range } & =6-2 \\ & =4 \end{aligned}\) \end{multicols}](/media/t5hn5rrc/9223.png)
