Line of Best Fit Theory

From a scatter plot it there seems to be a linear correlation we can determine a regression line on line of best fit. We can use this line to make predictions.\\ To determine the line of best fit from the set of data \[ (1,7),(2,6),(3,4),(4,1) \text {. } \] - Place your calculator in statistical mode\\ - Clear the statistical memory\\ - Enter the data\\ - Calculate the gradient and \(y\)-intercept\\ - Change back to normal mode\\ In this example \(y=-2 x+9.5\).\\
